What is wrong with this picture?

I actually did this once by accident. My hand slipped right past the handle on a hot iron; and wrapped my index finger around the barrel. Took months to heal.

Another question, why does she appear to be in some kind of chemistry  lab? There's some kind of fume hood, sinks, etc...but no oscilloscopes, soldering irons (besides one in her hand) and so on.

 Its obvious. She is using a wood burning iron and wearing a pair of laser safety glasses even though she is clearly not in any danger of exposure to laser light since the board she is working on is unpowered.

  And what is all this talk about chicken?
