Since we removed support for Tapatalk, which was the right decision in my mind, I would like to focus on theme support for EEVBlog. There are some theme options already available in the Account Settings / Look and Layout , but in general they're all terrible besides the current default theme which is good. I would love to see a dark theme, but I'm not sure which one, if any, have enough support to be worth the hassle of adding to EEVBlog.

Poll is to narrow down to a couple themes to pitch to Dave. You can vote on as many options as you like.

All polling options chosen from "Most Popular" and "Most Downloaded" themes on this page: https://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?action=stats and should be compatible with the current version of SMF we are running.

What I really wanted is a dark one, so any that have a night mode on is OK.

Dilber MC looks good. I notice it is a popular download.

I also note there is a compatible with spec for themes. I hope this doesn't cause migration issues down the track. I'm fine with the current look.

Looks like we're running SMF 2.0.15 on this forum, so it removes a couple options from the table. I'll update the poll accordingly. Good catch

Also, I think my number 1 pick right now is the UX theme - they've got a demo on their site. Only catch is that "SMF Ads for Free Forums" that Dave uses doesn't play well with this theme on mobile. Until 100% of the Net goes dark (no pun intended) I do not want a dark theme. My computer displays are toned down for brightness and contrast to keep it easier on the eyes and whenever i hit a web site with a dark theme i can barely read anything. Gray text on black background was the Devil's invention.

To clarify, the theme isn't pressed on anyone, it simply becomes an option that you can choose under Account Settings / Look and Layout

Didn't we have a similar discussion recently where the conclusion was people can easily modify the forum to their own liking? You don't want to burden it with too much crap stacked on top.

Sunrise and UX (Responsive) look good to me.

At least Sunrise will have the available space to slap the banners that normally are on top. And it has Light/Night modes.

I do have doubling of the menu up top but I can live with it - the dark theme is primarily for my phone where it tucks the menu away. The normal EEVBlog theme is more than sufficient for my main PC.

Many of the forum plugins have the add stuff per-theme, and often they are incompatible with a certain theme, not much I do about it, there will be issues with using other themes.

Also don't like the dark blue links

, and the new posts and new replies links are at the top right, already used to at the top left.

Back to default theme, fail ... at least for me.

Well, at least it's dark. That's what we're after. It made a huge difference for me.

They'd be fine if they identified unread threads and changed to a different shade like in XenForo based forums.

But hey we have the orange NEW that does much the same thing.

Dark theme of some sort please!

Given the work needed I was going to say leave it until 2.1 gets released but I did a little digging

2.1 final looks like well into next year as they are doing a release of RC3 that isn't even ready.

Noob question (and it might be because I've driven something like 600 kilometres today and haven't eaten)... but how do you change the theme?

Modify profile --> Look and Layout then click (change) near the top.
