Where does one report technical issues with EEVBlog forum?
« on: January 08, 2018, 08:55:27 pm »
Having some difficulties with composing messages. The spellchecker seems to be underlining every other word although it is spelled correct in English. It seems that it is proffing in another language. There is no 'Contact Us' or Contact Administrator type link or a dedicated subject for techical issues so I'm not sure how to report the problem to?

You can do this here:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/eevblog-121gw-multimeter-issues/
Why post about technical issues with the EEVBlog forums in a forum created for reporting issues with the new 121GW multimeter?  :wtf:

It is. The spellchecker is a browser function and has nothing to do with what site is visited.
Keyboard error: Press F1 to continue.

Because, if you are following the link, then you'll see:

- the thread was created by Dave
- it is a sticky thread, so it can be found easily
- I think it is a good idea to keep all the issues in one thread
- the chances that Dave will look into another thread are lower

All imho.

But Dave created that thread for reporting issues with the MULTIMETER.
It was created to collect issues with the MULTIMETER, not to keep all kinds of issues in one thread.

You are right, my bad.
Confused it with all the 121GW stuff.  :palm:

Sorry.

Your browser and computer's spellcheck dictionary determines what words get underlined...

Check your computer's location setting and your browser prefs.

Thank you for the replies. I have now checked a few things. I generally use Linux MINT with Firefox browser for most day-to-day things. However I booted into Windows 10 and the same issue does not ocurr there. I checked both Firefox and Chrome browsers. So I booted back into Linux MINT and checked the Firefox language, which is set to English/United Kingdom. I also checked the system language which is set to English(UK).

I have attached a screenshot of the paragraph above in edit mode to illustrate what is happening. I tried unchecking the tick next to 'Check spelling as you type' and this does remove the problem so this issue is evidently related to the browser dictionary as has been suggested. It doesn't seem to matter whether I choose English/United Kingdom or English(En) as the language, I still get the majority of correctly spelled english words underlined, so still baffled.

It's definitely a browser issue. This forum has no spellchecker function.

I don't know what to suggest. Try reinstalling the dictionaries on your browser.

Some time back I posted a complaint about spell check wrongly flagging an electronics related word. Someone correctly pointed out to me that it wasn't a forum function but something on my computer. After some searches I found out how to correct the spell check  dictionary on my computer.

You might start by reinstalling Firefox on your Mint system.
