Very impressive.  I kinda wanted to watch him plug it in outdoors to see how long it took to totally destroy itself.  But scary to think that could burn someone's home down very easily (not to mention the electrocution risk).

These eBay importers will continue to import dangerous crap as long as there are not prosecutions for doing it.  Trading Standards in this country is a toothless joke.

If you buy something from Asia, via eBay or not via eBay, it is you who are an importer.
I hope this won't change.
I like crap, bigclivedotcom likes crap.

"Air purifier", I have not seen this particular model in Safety Gate (Rapex) database so maybe UK does not use the database after brexit? It is unlikely this model is imported by some company and distributed inside of EU because it would have been reported and forced out of market (at a cost of importer). I only found this air purifier sold through Amazon, imported by UK company. It is recent stuff, 12/2022. We shall see.

EDIT: Some random recalls page from UK (found via Rapex) with various dangerous products.

In the past I've seen TV sets made by A brands catch fire all by themselves. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just make sure you install smoke alarms in your home. I have.

And I like crap from Aliexpress and Ebay as well. At least there is no local seller markup and you can always throw the bits away that are dangerous. I have LED panels from Aliexpress in my bathroom ceiling. But I made the (dimming) power supply myself.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
