I don't quite remember.
Ignoring the Tandy 50-in-1 kit which was my first electronics kit, my first PCB based project was probably a Talking Electronics kit, the 3 digit frequency counter if memory serves correctly.

My first was a light bulb and a battery.
My first proper circuit, with semiconductors, was an astable multivibrator.

Don't remember my first exactly, but my parents got me one of those
Radio Shack 200-in-1 electronic project kits, so it was probably
"Experiment #1" in that book!
My first "real" project was a Heathkit clock of some sort. I learned
a ton about soldering and debugging in building that little clock.
I really miss Heathkit.
