There is a separate thread somewhere for discussion of moderator actions. You could ask the question there.

However, the particular thread in question was going round in circles and converging nowhere. There was no point in letting it continue and pollute the board since it was way off topic and convergence was unlikely at best.

Since the common advice of "don't argue with fools" was not being followed, what was a moderator to do?
