Where is the distinctive EEVBlog ico file?
« on: January 19, 2021, 02:00:36 am »
I'm trying to fix all my desktop icons that Microsoft Edge destroyed on the last update. Swinging mad Microsoft Edge changed all of them to their logo.

I like my icons, makes it easier to find them on a cluttered screen.

I tried creating a new EEVBlog shortcut but it didn't restore the icon. Does it exist on my system somewhere?

Thank you, that's the one. If only replacing all my lost ICO files were that easy.

Now, how can I lock my ICO files so the next time Microsoft want to ruin my desktop they will be thwarted?

I always thought that Internet Explorer and Edge were only needed to download Chrome  :)
And sorry for my English.

Hi.  You didn't say what version of Windows you have?  Obviously, virtually all Application .EXE's have their own built in
Icons, (although you can change them), but when you have 'ShortCuts' to other file-types/folders or Web-Addresses you
need to be able to change/protect them.  Here's one website that describes how to protect against Icon changes....

https://techcult.com/wiki/prevent-user-from-changing-desktop-icons-in-windows-10/

That site talks about stopping 'anyone else' from changing them, but I assume it will also stop other 'Software' from
changing them too!!!  Hope it helps.   8)
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!
