Title: Where to find X24C44
Post by: dritech on February 04, 2017, 07:17:22 pm
Hi all,

I have been looking for X24C44 with military specs for quite a while now. These devices have been obsolete for quite some time now, but I need to replace several of these ICs. I have two options:

1) Find an old stock of these devices (either X24C44PM, X24C44DM or X24C44SM). The only supplier that I managed to find is from Hong Kong and I believe these are counterfeit devices.
2) Find a similar device with the same pinouts (may not have the same pin orientation as I can implement an adapter)

I need these in military specs since they will be operating at high temperatures. Currently I am using the standard (commercial) package which is not able to withstand these high temperatures.
Please can anyone help me find a reliable supplier or an alternative device which would work with minor changes.
Any kind on help would be highly appreciated.

What about the plastic fails it from high temperature use at 125C. The mil spec units were typically the same devices, just with a 125C burn in for a time (48 hours IIRC) to weed out infant mortality, and then a few fast cycles from -55 to 125C followed by another test cycle. They were normally just the regular devices off the line, with a certificate so you could ( like with the regular devices) trace them back to the die they came from, and have the record of processing and incoming material samples and tests.

No difference processing or packaging aside from the extra testing. Regular IC production has for decades been capable of the mil test with no problems aside from some very high density chips that will fail over 70C in normal use, or with the fast cycling. These chips also fail in use at a high rate as well, they just are in use in equipment with a 2 year design life.
