Is arrow a reputable place to buy electronics.
« on: October 29, 2016, 05:13:46 am »
I'm from Maldives (if you don't know its a very small island country in Indian ocean near India). So if i buy anything online shipping cost has always been a big problem and not lot of useful choices are available here given the size of the country.

I would like buy a Rigol DS1054Z but with shipping it cost around $515 (cheapest with very slow shipping). But Arrow is having a promotion with free international shipping so if I buy from them I'll save around $150 with some 10% discount code plus free shipping but promotion seems to end after 2 days.

So does anybody have any experience with them and are  they a reputable place to buy. I don't want lose my my money end up with nothing.

It is a reputable place, with occasional quirks , same as with other industrial suppliers.

I always got the impression that they prefer customers with higher quantity needs (>thousands of parts per year).  But that's for commercial needs.  If the offer is good, then you'll get what you ordered.

Arrow comes up a lot when doing parts searches from those part finder sites like FindChips.  They always have good prices, but they seem to cater only to corporate wholesale purchases as do a couple of the other vendors that come up with those searches.  They don't support the little guys like Mouser and Digikey.  In any case if they're selling anything retail I would be surprised if they were not reliable.

It seems they do sell for individuals too.

https://www.arrow.com/en/products/ds1054z/rigol-technologies-inc

With a coupon I can bring price down to $320 and with no shipping charge is extremely nice. Shipping is with DHL. Its will be like more then $250 saving with this kind of shipping.

Even with slower shipping cheapest I found is $513 shipping with USPS priority but it will take more than a month. Last time I ordered something with USPS priority shipping from US it took 2 months. Si its extremely good nice.

Let's see what happens. I'll order it tonight.
