I have heard someone acll this talk to thinker or apparently in the software world it is rubberdukking. You tell the rubber duck on your desk.
Yes, but this has nothing to do with what I said. You are talking about how to arrive at a good understanding of something. I am talking about a beginner "teaching" others which in reality means teaching wrong things because he/she doesn't have a clue of anything AND cannot see it because of a lack of understanding and knowledge!
But doing this on the internet is the fastest way for this beginner to learn what he is lacking. The way he words it like he is actually "laying down the truth?" Acting like he's a teacher when he is struggling to learn? You assume it's because he thinks he knows it all.
But when dealing with a complex subject matter, adding "I think," "maybe," "as I understand," every other sentence can make an already complex post near unreadable. Sometimes a beginner is just stating things to lay it all out, so that someone can correct him if any of his understanding is incorrect. You see the 6.
Ask a question on the internet, and you get 100 replies where 99% is the BS this thread is about. Esp if it's a subtle nuance and you lack the technical jargon, it might even be difficult to explain what your question is. So most of the repliers will not even bother to read your question and just hit on key words. Then "oh yeah, I worked with this 30 years ago, and blah blah" nothing to do with your question at all. Or they will post a verbatim answer that was the first thing you had already looked up or googled. And another person saying it copypasta won't help you.
Oftentimes, the quickest way to get the answer is to post your understanding as facts as if you are teaching someone. This details the logical steps in your understanding. Then you get an amazingly high signal to noise ratio where 99/100 replies are correcting where you went wrong quite succinctly. As long as you can handle the occasional smartass calling you an idiot, as long as they explain exactly why you are an idiot, they are actually helping you. So this can also be a 9.
