today's technicians are sadly mostly button pushers.

Button mashing?... those primitive amateurs. A real engineer uses voice recognition!

Yeah, but to a kid, that toner replacement guy has a nice set of tools and can take stuff apart without getting yelled at.

Speaking of the article, I'm still scratching my head over "static indicators." I think that's high school nerd-speak for LEDs.  ;D

From my memory of those years,  :o yes I was a  nerd... it might have meant Electro-mechanical indicators and counters ?
