We've got real people for that, what's the point of an ai.

To make it easier for 1 person to generate thousands of different fake news stories.

I want to see some of that AI fake news that I would believe.

Propaganda only is a problem when you have masses of idiots deciding about things that are none of their concern. And the original order of your republic was supposed to prevent that.
They probably made a mistake and should have chosen a new king of America from among themselves.

It's even worse than mere democracy - it's globalism :scared:

Back in the day Athens may have had their democracy if they wanted to while other Greeks didn't give rat's ass.
Today bureaucrats elected by Swedes banned leaded solder in all of Greece.

With that much power concentrated in very few places and people voting about issues of strangers they have never met, of course the system is begging to be exploited.

I think it would be even more troubling if AI can create "true" news stories.

Oh well, what is true and false anyway? Isn't that terribly oppressive?

The poor quality of the article just shows how far away general AI is. This is my favourite quote:
Quote
All this will be challenging, because, as Johnson said, the moon is made of rubble. "With a push, rock does up," said Johnson. "And then you'll just have to wait for the moon to bounce back to earth"

No sane person would believe this article. The program has read through more content, than any human could in their entire life, yet this is the best it could come up with. It clearly lacks the ability to understand what it writes. It uses interesting language and grammar, which does sound genuine, but the content is utter bollocks, like someone who's waffling on and on. Perhaps it would be more convincing if it wrote some celebrity gossip, which doesn't require so much real understanding to get right? Perhaps that will be more dangerous and all it takes is a small proportion of the content it generates, to fool a tiny percentage of the population to cause trouble.

By the way, I think AI is great. I'm not pissing on anyone's achievements. It's brilliant how far AI progressed using pattern recognition and simple trial and error learning. The next step will be understanding and it won't have to be great at it, to do great things. Imagine an AI system with the level of understanding of a three year old. The huge memory and sheer data processing power of a computer would partly make up for the lack of reasoning.

Maybe it'd be good for movies to generate garbage stories rather than just replacing headlines.
