| WIFI rf interference |
| (1/1) |
| cyberwasp:
I recently purchased a Netgear Nighthawk RAX 50 router. For some reason it produces an interference over the pc speakers. If there a way to stop the interference other than moving the router or speaker leads. I know it's from the router as when it's off the noise is gone. Sorry I can't provide Sory I can't provider any more info as I know it would help. TIA |

You could try rapping multiple loops of speaker cable around a Toroidal ferrite core or ferrite cable clamp. You could also so that for the power lead going in to the speaker system. The idea being... with the ferrites in the cable paths these will have a higher impedance at 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi frequencies and the signals attenuated. |

Thanks. Will give it a try |

I doubt 2.4/5Ghz are a problem here, have you tried changing the router power adapter? |

I have a new Netgear NightHawk MR60 with one of the satellites above the electronics bench used for a wired connection. I was getting interference in an rf board being tested. I put the 'scope probe with a 1 M load + 50mm wire on, first near the NetGear power supply and then near the NetGear module. Power supply is cycling at 40 us rate , emitting 20 mV p-pk to the wire. Satellite module is emitting 1200 ms long pulses sporadically at about 3/second, 100 MHz scope can only see envelope about 15 mV p-p. It looks like the emission has slow attack and decay. (triangular envelope) It is the latter one which was getting all over my board under test. ( thump..thump....thump in the recovered audio.) Cured when the board is in its shielded box. |
