Win an Agilent U1241B
« on: May 11, 2011, 08:46:32 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I didn't see this posted anywhere, so I thought I'd post it up.  If you haven't seen, Agilent is running a Facebook contest where you can win a U1241B handheld DMM.  Essentially you have to email a photo of your lab bench/setup to Agilent (scopes.facebook at agilent.com) and if it meets the criteria here

http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/editorial.jspx?cc=US&lc=eng&ckey=2041316&id=2041316

it will be posted on May 16th to the Facebook page.  The photo with the most "likes" on May 27th wins the U1241B.  The key criteria appear to be that your photo only contain Agilent/HP test equipment and that you get the photo submitted by May 13th at 5PM Mountain Daylight Time (and there are the typical eligibility requirements as well).

Pity they didnt offer a something a little better like a U1272a for example, given the amount of feedback on what equipment of theirs is in use in all those 'qualified ' countries.
To all who enter good luck winning this !.

Still it will be interesting to see the winning photo.
The odd multimeter or 2 or 3 or 4...or........can't remember !.

I will enter! Even if my "bench" isn't that interesting. One more meter would be good though.

The correct word is " chosen " to get.
I do not use to participate in contests ,  my own "good luck" resources was always low ;-)

Here's my bench for the competition (sort of.. more like a study-computer-TV-music-electronics-workout-desk. Compact living!) Had to throw in my trusted HP48GX calculator to spicy it up a little. All the other gear is located above the monitor.

having a background in photography. let me throw a 2cnt advice...
since this is an agilent contest. the "subject matter" is agilent device. so try to get those (agilent) arranged properly (keyword: composed and composition) and in focus. as for the background/foreground (framing) is the story telling and add up to the image. dont try to mess it with the main "subject matter" and get it a little blurry (if you have such lenses), too much blur you will lose the story, too much sharpness, it will interfere with "subject matter". if you dont have fast lens, try to get the cheapo camera as far as you can, zoom to appropriate window, use the lowest aperture (ie low f value = big aperture opening) as possible (but dont let background too blur, you still need to include your lab remember?). a proper lighting will also help, lighting from the side, 45 degree from the top etc etc, experience will tell. a proper lighting doesnt mean an expensive ttl canon, nikon or those big strobes with big umbrella brand name. it could be a diy flou light covered with some linen or cotton flat fabrix or such for diffused lighting, but be carefull and adjust your white balance. the main thing you have to give attention in photography is composition and lighting, the timing you dont have to care much since this is more of "still image" unless you want to include some glitch in your oscilloscope. be creative and innovative, otherwise you end up with boring or messy image. the other aspects are technical. photography is like an ee design, you have to plan before you do it. cheers ;)

yes, I agree. Actually I have all the photo equipment and knowledge to make a "perfect" photo, but I just snapped a picture before going to bed, as the bench was (just added the calc). But I don't know why it looks so blurry, some resizing and/or compression problem.

The contest have started! Please click "like" on my bench photo.

As the saying goes; you can never have too many meters. And I only have one (good one that is..)

If I win, I can make a comparison between the 1272 and 1241 and post it here, if that is of interest.

Thanks!
