My customer is driving me crazy with the enclosure design
« on: April 20, 2011, 09:50:17 am »

Hi all,

I recently started to work in project with a customer overseas, I'm trilled about this project and I want to do my best because it's a huge project and it's very good money for my, I actually quited my daily job at to work full time in this project.
Well things didn't exactly turn out to be so good, so I'm back to the office, anyways the project is still going put at slow pace.
The think is that we've spent the last few months working on the enclosure design and board connectors to the outside world instead of working in the electronics and MCU programming which is what I love about this job.

Although my customer knows my knowledge about enclosure design is quite limited. But he continues to ask for my advice, and I feel a great deal of pressure because the enclosure design is going to limit my PCB layout because I've to think how to fix the pcb board to the enclosure, and all sorts of things like LED position and so on...

I invite everyone to give me your ideas and share your experience in this area.
I’m still inside the woods, any advice is welcome !

Regards.

That usually is the right way to go about it - the enclosure will generally dictate the PCB size/shape, so you need to nail that down before you can do the PCB, but you obviously need to have a rough idea of how much space you need.
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs
