I should bloodywell think so. This should have been the case, when Windows first started phoning home.

Seeing that they are little more than lying, scheming thieves I would not make the mistake of believing that Microsoft will tell the whole truth.

Or that they will not arbitrarily change something at any point down the road. The whole issue with the forced updates rolling release model is that the user gives up all that control and is expected to simply used what is placed in front of them. Microsoft forgot the personal part of "personal computer. "

Yes, or you can disable the update service on your PC but then you never get any updates at all including security updates so that's not exactly optimal either. I lean toward that being preferable to handing over all control to MS though.

Like I said, get a program to remove the tracking for you. Just make sure you run it through a virus scan first (I've heard some are viruses).

Well my own solution is to continue using Windows 7 at home and Ubuntu at work.

So I cannot get updates which will break things and remove features?  I fail to see a problem here.
