Hi all and Dave,

Thanks for the blog and forum!

As a lapsed EE (latterly a software engineer), I have found the vBlog extremely helpful with regards to an upcoming necessity:  Rebuilding the electronics of my rare bass guitar, the manufacturer of which went out of business shortly after the instrument's purchase back in 1996.  The electrolytics are moribund, the pots are essentially six feet under and the mechanical/contact parts are 97% unreliable.

It was originally my intent to refurbish the bass's preamp, yet watching 300+ episodes of EEVblog has refreshed my memory of these tasks, so will be replicating the required circuitry from scratch.

All because I wandered in to a random YouTube channel one day earlier this year.

What kind of bass is it?

I wouldnt be surprised if it had a jFet based preamp.
