Fresh Hameg analogue scope and YouScope demo
« on: February 26, 2011, 12:27:38 am »
Got my 'NOS' Hameg HM604 scope today and I decided to try this YouScope demo.

It is basically a stereo audio file that creates patterns and animations on the screen of an oscilloscope operating in X-Y mode.

I made a very quick video of YouScope running on this scope. This soundcard (ASUS Xonar Essence STX) is probably not suitable for this application, hence the fuzziness and artefacts.

Anyway, enjoy the demo, there are 100s on youtube! By inverting the X channel you can get the text to move backwards. lol

Upload your own YouScope video here! Woohoo  ;D The green glow lights up the lab... :D

All the new sound cards perform sinc resampling, which is the reason for the fuzziness. Try using Baudline to play repetitive impulses and you'll find that just about every sound card will output sincs, with the exception of some old ones.

My digital Instek will display the "video" quite well, though definitely not as good as a boob tube scope. Would be interesting to see how the new Agilents work for that.
