Maybe solar road ways do not satisfy all of our energy needs right now, but I'm sure the "World’s longest’ solar panel bike path", which was just opened in Utrecht, Netherlands, soon will!   ;D

It can be only days until the first power plants can be shut down due to the mightly flow of energy from this 330 metre revolution!

They should've adapted it to be wave powered!  :(

I would have expected more tech knowledge from the Dutch.

How does it compare to a solar panel of comparable size thats not ruggedized wth some covering strong enough to support bikes and heavy people?

Lucky its fairly cool in NL, I would expect the high heat from direct sun, say here, to increase the likelihood of failures a lot. Most plastics would likely crack pretty soon after installation.

It looks so incredibly flat there, paradise for bicycle riders.
