| Would the dude actually die in Avatar 2 from that shoulder bullet wound? |

One of the blue guys got shot in the shoulder, and the bullet passed trough the other side, after around 15 or so minutes he dies... That seemed like a stretch, I mean fictional species aside, would that actually kill you in 15 minutes? he also had to swim about 100 meters to shore so would the water do some harm? |

If it hit the subclavian artery, death is certainly likely if not treated (attachment). EDIT: Silly me. Avatars are fictional. They can't be killed, unless it fits the script. Then. even a small scratch to a vulnerable part will kill them. |

So there is a computer generated world without in-app purchases? At least spend some of your Cameron Coin on a bullet proof force field and a laser canon. And flesh repairing nanobots. Or just better scriptwriters maybe? |

I guess it just skipped their minds :D |

We attended a performance of the opera "Werther" by Jules Massenet (based on Goethe's novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther"), where the hero kills himself with a shot to the chest from a dueling pistol. Thereafter, I asked the medical students in my circle of friends how long would a tenor be able to sing with such a wound before expiring (presumably, a 0.50 caliber ball). Some of them had exposure to the ER at the University of Chicago hospital, the main trauma center for the South Side, and they all thought it would not be long. |
