Would this be tcp or udp networking ?

Trying to determine how to implement this RFC for communication , would this be tcp or udp ?

It is IP based so it will be TCP most likely.
Been a while since i have seen such a document tho.......... entertaining..... :D

There no mechanism to compensate for missing pigeons so it's definitely UDP.

I to agree that its UDP, given the rather large TTL time the reciever may be obsolete by the time the packet arrives

Yes true, but how would you compensate for pigeons of different speeds. (If one stops to feed for example)? There would need to be a mechanism to re-sequence the out of sync datagrams.

It's on IP, and the IP layer doesn't guarantee delivery.

TCP and UDP are above IP, so theoretically they could both be used through it.

Yes, this -- although the one practical implementation I've seen documented was only used to carry ICMP.  UDP would be obviously doable, TCP might be painfully slow though!

I saw a packet loss from it this afternoon, the local kite came in and took out the packet in front of me. He called it dinner for the wife and kids.
