"XDevs.com" inaccessible?
« on: February 27, 2023, 11:00:13 pm »
Hi!

Does anybody know what's happened to the "xDevs.com" site that has all the Keithley firmware, repair blogs, manuals, etc., etc., on it?

I have been unable to access it for months, all I get is "this page redirected you too many times" and "try clearing your cookies", which is useless of course!

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

The entire domain, or just a specific URL? If the latter, please supply it.

I have no trouble loading the xdevs website, and every link I click works.

As an experiment, try changing your DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) to rule out some DNS problem. And if you’re using some VPN, try disabling it.

It's the entire site:–

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://xdevs.com/&ved=2ahUKEwiyj9T1hrf9AhWkmFwKHZnMCYQQFnoECAgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0IRsdUMqMJcnHlVXfTbqQO

. . .Why does copying a link address on an Android device add all this rubbish before and after the actual URL?

Is this something to do with why https://xdevs.com is inaccessible?

It's called URL tracking. For the cookies to know that you where send from Google there.

whois says the name servers for xdevs.com are in .UA, so it's possible the actual Web host is as well.  :(

Hopefully just a run-of-the-mill glitch, and not an orc attack.

NZ too.

Did wonder if TiN had done some geoblocking after Dave kicked up at him making a statement in his profile supporting those poor buggers in Ukraine.

Sounds like that might not be XDev's fault.

Asking somebody else won't give enough clues.  However, you can always check the status of a website by using other known good computers.  You can even take a peek how the same address looks like when accessed from different sides of the world.

Search online for 'geopeeker', or for 'is it down', or alike terms.  Some will only tell the status of a website from your place, others will tell from major capitals around the globe, others will even give you a map with outages.  Example:

https://geopeeker.com/

From the attached printscreen looks like there is a problem accessing xdevs.com from Virgina, while other locations are working fine.

Keep in mind that people were posting about having problems a month ago, so the problems might well be resolved already.

I can't reach it as of now in Chrome "too many redirects".

But, funny enough it opens in Edge.

So it might be Google doing something in Chrome..

Nice, that's a new one.  ;D
Like geolocation webpages personalisation, regional censorship firewalls, local DNSs, Cloudflare and so one was not enough.  ::)

That is a stupid assumption. I think that both are grown-up enough for that assumption to be even considered.

The described problems occur when you get blocked. Tin blocked his resource for users from Belarus and Russia. The blocking is also enabled if the language is set to Russian in the browser.

Considering that I cannot bypass this blocking through VPN, a lot of work has been done and you may also be blocked even if you are not in the above countries.

No.... Like I said before, it works fine from Edge and does not from Chrome...

FWIW  xdevs.com is working fine in Florida using both Palemoon and Firefox.

I found out, by borrowing my friend's phone, that the block was caused by me adding the Russian language to my GBoard on–screen keyboard – I added it so I could read and edit things on Russian electronics articles – you don't even need to select the Russian language on your phone to be caught by his website block – as soon as I removed the Belorussian and Russian languages from the GBoard language list, the site became accessible again!

The Ukrainian language doesn't trigger the block tho!
