So... what's the policy about using this forum while being patched in via a commercial VPN + state packet inspection? Can't access the forum using my workstation anymore nor while being patched in securely. The login greeting I receive is as per thread's title... Writing these from my apparently okay'ish account using a fully exposed telecom link and VM. What's going on? Secret Services keepin' an eye on the makers?! ;) |

Most likely someone on the same VPN was spamming and VPN's IP got banned. |

Weird stuff... regardless whether I rotate between the 130 IPs that VPN provider offers ootb, I still get booted out of the forum when I use Chrome on that particular workstation. Clearing cache didn't worked out or I'm probably doing something wrong. Can't possibly imagine they've banned the whole VPN provider 130 IPs and range? has to be something else Probably a good wake-up call to get off those commercial providers anyway, and have a Debian VM set-up with own VPN tunnel (Wireguard or likes). That way I can manage the IP range myself. Jeez... IT sucks! |

There was a user not to be named, who had an issue with the forum owner, and a few of the members, a few years ago. He used a VPN to connect from multiple exit nodes and harass the forum with majorly inappropriate images and posts, which would have gotten Dave into some serious legal costs, so the entire VPN network he used was permablocked, and he was banned, along with his entire location IP block. Thankfully he was the only user from that area, and has not tried again, though I suspect there were a few members in his country who called him in as well, to the right authorities. No, not likely that Gnif will enable VPN exit nodes again, except for a few select and non disclosed ones, you will have to ask the Moderators for this to be done, but, as an open forum, a VPN is not often needed to access it, except for a few special case uses. |
