It's not so much getting old that bothers me, but the fear of losing my f-ing mind. And stupid stuffups like the following just make me worry more about that.
So, quick little milling job. Part of setting up to make a resin cast of a HP button.
The mech workshop had become cluttered lately, so it took some clearing away to get at the milling machine. By which time I was feeling like this had already taken far too much time. So refilling the cutting fluid pump seemed like even more 'too much.'
And it's been a while since I used the mill at all. Forgot the 'touch', and what a sudden increase in required cutting pressure means.
Result: snapped an 8mm milling bit. Aluminium bound to the edges, gumming it up. It only takes a second. Wouldn't have happened with cutting fluid running.
I KNEW this. Used to anyway. That I forgot it this time... makes me feel pretty bad. Old and stupid.
So now instead of finishing that, I'm reworking the drain hose system from the mill. The old hose had become stiff from some effect of the fluid, and also blocked up and caused an overflow of the fluid onto something else.
