The main reason it's forum based of course is because it's easy to extract the names and do a random draw using the program I have.
But I am also obviously trying to encourage people to join and participate in the forum, hence the recent plug at the end of every video.
And I want to give back to the forum community participants as a first preference as well.
As for the post count rule, SMF gives me the ability to lock out people from posting in that board until the have X posts, so I figure that would be more useful to weed out the majority of people who would think about joining just to enter.
Does it work, I don't know, have there been an increase in "crap" posts? I'm hoping not, but figure that better than just letting them join with one post?
If the winner turns out to have only the minimum 5 posts, then I may certainly look at the quality of the posts and see if they are worthy
Geoff's suggestion is a good one. Not sure if SMF can automatically do that?
And I notice that ExcavatorEE has entered, who thinks he should be banned from entering any multimeter contest?!
Dave.
