YouTube channel worth mentioning.
« on: June 19, 2017, 08:14:56 am »
Hi,

I came across this young fellow's YouTube channel. I'm really happy to see young people get involved in electronics. So I thought it would be worth sharing to give him some support.

  • Why shouldn't we question everything?
    • It's not really a Blog

100 points for enthusiasm!
But JFC... scanning through his videos list I found this:

   Double Barrel Microwave Gun

Oh God. He's 'going places' alright. A sanitarium for the blind, if he keeps playing with that monstrosity.
Also, he has zero understanding of magnetrons and waveguide operation. Those styro cups with alfoil lining, are NOT going to form any kind of beam in that topology.

That's by far the dumbest, most self-destructive tech-thing I've ever seen anyone do on Youtube. Including that Russian guy messing with magnetrons and tin cans. At least that guy kept some distance. But this... is just inducing technidiots to do the stupidest things - wiring up bare magnetron setups, and harming themselves and bystanders.

Well, subscribed. I'm curious to see how long he takes to kill/maim himself.

I'm kind of surprised the camera kept working so close to that.

Yes he's going places alright. 1 Ms from going up to the pearly gates if he's not careful.  BTW not to mention the 4000 volts in those transformers and standing on a concrete floor .

Lol that microwave "gun" is scary.  Should have at least used tin cans as the wave guide.  Though I think for a proper wave guide the circumfrence needs to be specific according to the wave length.  I'm not sure what the rule is, if it has to be half, or 1/4 or what not.    It would be interesting to focus the beam in a rather straight line.  That is freaking dangerous though, like, super dangerous.  Can cause blindness and serious burns.

It's perhaps a saving grace that his wave guide did not really work, as the microwaves spread out so the further you are the less dangerous it is.

I'm glad Dave offered him a guest spot when he was away.
