Yeah, that looks very fragile, Psi. Looks more like a sort of "freeform circuit art" than a prototyping method.

I'm a huge fan of dead bug prototypes. Show me another way that minimizes parasitics as easily without etching a PCB. I do them just like the photos in Linear AN47 (Jim Williams), with connectors soldered right to the board and such.

oh, i didn't make that. I just used google image search to find an example of what i meant.

I don't think it has a name. Maybe we could call it, 'Squashed bug' style

Manhattan/deadbug/airwire style has one disadvantage: when you glue the IC upside down, you cannot see the orientation marks

I also had quite large number of "Bzzzzt... Fook, datasheet pinout diagram is from top view, not bottom" moments.

That's the main reason why i prefer soldering them in the air vs manhatten
