I noticed that most of the copyright infringements (~55 videos) were posted as far back as 2018... and this is the first time I've seen a notification. Did YouTube upgrade their algorithms or decide they have the computing power to scan every channel video now to look for matches? Or did my channel meet some kind of "flag" that now YouTube cares to scan it for?
I decided to send a Standard removal request to 9 videos which were basically 100% ripped copies that were on a handful of channels. These videos were unboxing or repair videos, or reviews of certain technologies. Some were even including the original audio too.
There were another 45 or so videos that people used portions of (or overlaid) in their videos (10-20%) mostly because I rendered some deep zoom fractals. For example, here are a couple of my deep zoom Mandelbrot fractal videos that I rendered a while back:
...and here you can see this guy (who has used my mandelbrot zoom in lots of his videos) talking about some conspiracy stuff around 3:30 mark it starts...
...and then there are also a bunch of music videos that used it, for example...
I'm not concerned about the Mandelbrot, I am happy to share that with the world and the infringing videos are also using small portions of it and being creative with it. But when someone just rips a video completely 100% and posts exactly the same thing on another channel it is a waste of YouTube resources, is dishonest to viewers and also doesn't allow me to reply to comments for users who may want to know more about the video.
