Grids

OK so the official documentation does not really say anything about how grids work other than confirming their existence, Currently I have a full x count of 1150 on the "x" of an A4 sheet, what units of measure is that ? it's not mm and corresponds to 3.8mm no not very imperial either.

In AD, that was Document / Options.  The "DXP Defaults" are 0.01 inch.  Dunno if that changed in CS.

yes but I have the default grids that are NOT 3.8mm yes the x and y numbers seem to the in units of 3.8mm, further I can't see how to switch between the grids.

The unit of measure is just over 0.25mm or 0.01" the smallest imperial grid, I Have set the schematic to use metric but it still does not change. but if I right click on the schematic and select document options there is a further option for metric or imperial. Very confusing.

For the schematic in CS I left the grid as default, then all the library parts would happily align and snap correctly.  When I changed it I had all sorts of oddities with component pins not aligning on the schematic.

Dont change the SCH grid. It is pointless, and nothing is going to work for you.

My main issue was what is the unit of measure. All I got was a number. I don't mind the presets but I need to know what "1" represents or when I make library symbols I have no idea how big or small I am making them.

The grid is 10. You get nice results, if your resistors are 20x10 with 10 long pins. Everything else just goes from there.

Now that I know that it is 10mil I might agree but I find it confusing that in inches mode it give you a number in units of 10mil and in mm mode it just tells you in mm where you are. It remind me of the imperial/metric nightmare of proteus where you are in effect always in imperial and have to specify "mm" after every number as if you don't it is assumed to be inches even though you are setup to work in metric.

Arrr the damn thing is still imperial based. I tried a 1mm grid with a snap to 0.2mm and it told me that it is a minimum of 0.254mm snap. Pretty poor that it can't handle smaller units.
