What OS are you running it under?

I'm on windows 10, restarting the computer and program again seems to have taken care of this issue this time.

now i'm dealing with extensive "off grid" warnings although as far as i can tell every pin is properly on the grid. ignoring the warnings seems to be okay, for now

Extensive off grids can occur if you placed parts on a smaller or larger grid than the wiring.  On Altium Designer, I've grabbed an entire sheet of components, zoomed in close and moved the entire group onto the proper grid.

I don't recall if CS has the tools to do that.  Only dropped by here by accident.  You can look for object selection filters and choose parts but not wires if possible.

There could be other causes, I'm not sure.
