Title: Custom footprint pad shapes
Post by: DMKitsch on March 03, 2022, 10:55:44 pm
Hi,

I'm trying to make a footprint that incorporates a custom shaped pad. I've drawn out the custom shape as a polygon fill, then applied a tiny pad on top of it to act as a single copper region. However, instead it just creates a DRC error due to the no net being shorted to the pad. Any ideas on how I might solve this? Selecting the polygon and trying to select a net just comes up with a blank box

Best regards,
Dave

Try "Update Free Primitives From Component Pads" (http://documentation.circuitstudio.com/display/CSTU/PCB_Cmd-Netlist_Composite((Netlist+Tools))_CS)

Thanks for this, it seems to have worked. Any chance you could explain what it does in a bit more detail? Does this just modify the track name to a pad that touches it? It sounds potentially destructive?
