Looks like it is now up and running! Next step is to figure out if an alternate to Facebook is possible.

Exciting - the race is on.

I'd give you a vote as well, but no Facebook here.
Same here!

@Rx8pilot: neat video and love the humoristic approach.
If you don't win go on Ebay and buy a Tektronix TLA715 logic analyser mainframe, a TLA7AA4 acquisition module and some probes (should cost less than $1000 together) and presto you can analyse high speed digital signals with an 125ps (8Gs/s) timing resolution. That should enable you to get into high speed FPGA design.

Same problem here, and I got a friendly answer from Keysight on my youtube comment regarding the facebook problem. They need a way to prevent automated voting and other unfair practises, so they chose facebook as some kind of authentication.
I am still wondering if I should open a facebook account (using the least possible amount of personal data) so I can take part in the voting. As I am hoping for some votes for my own video, I feel it would not be nice to refrain from voting for other good contributions.

If you really want to go through the hassle, just setup a fake account. You won't get sued by using random data. OTOH, they may be blocking new accounts from voting to prevent some smartass of settiung up a gazillion of these to vote on his own vid...  :-/O

Vote early and vote often for your favorite video (Carlos A.)

I may be the only one that has thought through the tax implications so that I can actually accept a win if it happens.

Great start! Just need to convince re-votes daily. I was thinking that if I do win I will have two scopes of my own to give away.

Tektronix TDS754C 500Mhz 4ch
Rigol DS1102E

Obviously not nearly as exciting as the Keysights, but for someone, they would be great. Maybe Dave would help coordinate a little if I win the Keysight 6000.

Bravo!

I did set up a FB account ages ago - but only to monitor the Curiosity Mars Rover and Spaceflight Now.  I hate the general FB scene - and avoid it like the plague.  However, occasionally some good can come of it.

I checked out all the videos and I must say that, as far as I am concerned, while some make a case for a scope, your submission makes a much better case for utilizing the capabilities of THE scope on offer.  Also, the quality of your video presentation makes a positive impact.  (Maybe the business you're in gave you that advantage.)  While there were one or two others that I felt made a good case, yours gets my  :-+ .

I have voted accordingly - and will continue to review and vote whenever I remember.

Not sure why they allow 3 votes per person per day. If only one was allowed per day it would be easier on the voters and the result would be the same.  :-//

I look at the 3 votes thing as an opportunity for someone to vote for 3 different entries or vote twice for one and once for another.  It gives you the ability to 'weight' your voting.

BTW, I've spoken about the competition to others (with my thoughts) and you could see another 2 or 3 voters......

Another "not able to vote" here but it looks like by far you have the most votes.  Be sure to let us know what happens.  Good idea to ask for help here  :)

That makes sense.

The facebook authentication is a bummer. I understand it, but it's a bummer.

Thank you to all that have voted for my video submission.

The votes are up to 141 right now and I am thrilled to have that support. I ask all those willing to please vote daily. Nilu J is not far behind so we will need continuous voting to make it to the finish line.

Voting resets in about 2.5 hours - so get your DAY 1 votes in if at all possible.

20 more minutes for DAY 1 votes.

Please consider voting if you can.

I have to say, I am a bit concerned about the ability of the contest to remain legitimate.
It took about two seconds to find a slew of "pay per vote" services.

https://www.buycontestvotes.com

http://votesforcontests.com

I hope this does not succumb to dark fringes of the Internet.

Sent from my horrible mobile....

Hi, Carlos, no, my name is Johannes. My video has not been put on the keysight page yet as they have some problem with the file - I hope they manage to put it online soon, or the contest will be over for me before it started...
Best wishes for the vote (even though I'd like to get that beast of a scope by myself :))!

Just shell out a few € on a Vietnamese clickfarm (ask Butteriser how to do it) and the scope is yours.

Those sites are probably a scam. I'd setup my own botnet if I wanted to rig any contest like this. Keysight didn't even use a captcha.

Honestly I think scope month in general was a fraud. IIRC we had one person "win" on the eevblog. That person complained about paying taxes and in the end rejected the scope. Also funny how he registered on the forum the day he won, claimed the contest was marketing BS, and then deleted his posts. Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

If Keysight really sends scopes, and if the "winners" even exist, then there's really not much you can do about illegitimate voting schemes.

Honestly though, even if you did not have the eevblog army, you should win because the other videos are abysmal. Most don't even have a lab worth $200 and claim that they need the 6000x? Wtf?

We do have a few more winners than that ... somebody actually put up a number somewhere.  I think it was 3 or 4.

As for the 'winner' you mentioned, there has been some speculation about that person ... and them deleting their posts was just consistent with that speculation.

Don't write Keysight off just yet.  The scope a day part of the competition has only just closed - and we don't know what the lead time is for the prize scopes to find their new owners.

As for the flaws in the voting method, I wouldn't read too much into that.  Keysight do test gear.  The metrics involved in voting - and the subsequent weaknesses thereof - is not within the scope of their professional expertise.  I'm guessing that somebody came up with an idea on how it could be done, with some sort of controls and it was adopted.

Also, I don't know about anyone else - but I had to wrangle a Captcha for each and every vote.

I agree.  I am well impressed with Keysight.  At least some of the winners appear to be genuine scope users, and it is a fact of life that most competitions, in whatever field, attract competition entry specialists from hobbyists to criminal masterminds.

What really impresses me (reading between the lines) is they seem to have adjusted things and got hold of a whole new pot of money half way through to please us socialistical Europeans.   Although I didn't win, it turns things round for me from various negative thoughts about Americans riding roughshod etc to being extremely impressed with their professionalism and desire to satisfy their customers.   When I'm in the market for test gear, and I hope it isn't just me, that's the sort of impression which will affect my choices.  It reinforces what I have heard about their forums and other customer services.

Hi all,

I spent a lot of time campaigning for votes yesterday and it appears that the voting system on mobile devices either does not work at all or is dodgy. The majority of my support is on mobile. Not sure what to do about that. May votes seem to be lost because of the FB requirement and a huge number lost because the site is not mobile friendly.

No sure how to bring this up to Keysight before it is too late. I literally have hundreds of voters that are getting frustrated and not voting.  :-//

If you are one a desktop/laptop please consider voting today. I hope my case is worthy enough to get big voter support.

Designing and analyizing 1.485Gpbs and 3Gbps serial signals is right up the ally of this scope. The 3Gbps is right at the Nyquist limit - maybe over a little.

Currently running behind by 30 votes. I am hoping that State of the art high-speed digital for movie cameras can win over decades old concept of inductive heating, lol!  :box:
