If you win, how about sending one of your old scopes to Nilu J?

Maintaining the gap - which is good...

...but closing it would be better.

Yep I'm also a sucker for a deserving cause but like all the others I wont be signing up to anything else social media wise, you would get my vote without any hesitation and all we need to do now is get Daniel from Keysight to read this thread, perhaps some unscrupulous enticements might be worth a go.

Hi guys, back from a couple days off.  We are looking into the voting to do what we can to make sure the votes are legitimate. Currently the only choice for us is to use Facebook, the 3rd party company running the contest mechanics only supports the Facebook login.  For this contest, we'll be sticking with Facebook for better or for worse.

But please know that the support of this community speaks volumes for Carlos, and it won't go unnoticed.

Those sites are probably a scam. I'd setup my own botnet if I wanted to rig any contest like this. Keysight didn't even use a captcha.

Honestly I think scope month in general was a fraud. IIRC we had one person "win" on the eevblog. That person complained about paying taxes and in the end rejected the scope. Also funny how he registered on the forum the day he won, claimed the contest was marketing BS, and then deleted his posts. Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

If Keysight really sends scopes, and if the "winners" even exist, then there's really not much you can do about illegitimate voting schemes.

Honestly though, even if you did not have the eevblog army, you should win because the other videos are abysmal. Most don't even have a lab worth $200 and claim that they need the 6000x? Wtf?

Hi (Justin, maybe?), the winners are real, the contest is real, and everyone who was drawn was vetted after the fact to make sure it was on the up and up.  We did draw the name of *one or more* winner(s) who cheated the system and their scope(s) were re-drawn.

I really wanted to make them think they won and ship them an empty box with a copy of all their entries, but that probably would have been in poor taste. :)

We plan to post pictures of the winners with their scopes in the coming months, but there's always going to be some conspiracy theories, etc.

Not an empty box, but one with the appropriate mass of coals inside, in sealed bags. Plus the customs invoice declaration of the recommended retail price plus shipping in the country, direct to them via courier with certified  expedited delivery.

Worst you will be out on the shipping costs and possibly return costs. Best if you have a camera crew at the door to video the action.......

Since almost all members of the EEVBlog enjoy a good experiment. Lets do one that will also elevate the cause.

Let's see if we can get 100-ish members to put in three votes in a short period of time - say all in about 30 minutes. The count will rapidly rise by 300. Then wait til the next day and look at the trends. It's a self-serving experiment of course.

Is it possible to rally the troops for a grand experiment?

For those willing......
To gain some attention on the forum - would anyone volunteer to change their profile and signature like mine to keep this contest front and center? Its a small thing that could really add up on this forum.

All done.

Also Nilu project? I dont get how that has any requirement for a 6ghz scope. Wonder where 400 votes came from.

I don't get the Nilu's project either, no requirement at all for such a scope.
I like that Carlos is willing to give away his old scopes.

I just voted 3 times for Carlos.

The count now stands at:
Carlos 1763 votes

Nilu 2073 votes

Difference of 310.

The plea videos are like chalk and cheese as to how the scope will be applied, therefore I'll be sure to vote every day until the competition ends.

Also, after each time I voted I checked the vote count. Sure enough the count for Carlos increased, but so did the count for Nilu.
This happened for all of my 3 votes, it was as though I was voting for both of them without clicking on Nilu.

Something is not quite right about this voting system.

I'm not even going to try for a scope of this caliber. I'm a self proclaimed "tool whore" and "gadget whore" so owning this would be awesome. Unfortunately it will be quite a while before I learn enough to know how to use it properly. Although I would truly love to be advanced enough to actually understand how to use it, I know right now it should go to someone like Carlos. Someone that would get good use from it.

It would be a tremendous help to Carlos if you created a new post about this  :-+

By now I think it is worth it and especially since Keysight is also watching (and seems to support) Carlos

It could be as simple as just a link to this topic with a thumbs up.

It would be nice to get more members in on this, it would be fun.

Cheers

Tried voting for Carlos but to no avail (Firefox/Internet/Desktop).  >:(

I had a quick glance through this topic and it seems it might be Facebook only (sorry Carlos, I'm not on Facebook :-//).

Good luck (and from what Keysight_DanielBogdanoff says, support here will also count towards your bid! :D)
Reviving my old hobby after retiring! Know so little...only one thing to do...watch Dave's videos and keep reading the forum! ;-)
