Not sure if I can enter the Aussie giveaway as well as this one but I'll give it a shot.

I'm currently studying electronic engineering while making and selling my own electronics in my spare time. I just got my first pick and place recently and am having a blast with it. I currently have a Siglent SDS 1102CML which was a dumpster repair special, still going strong a few years later.

Good luck to everyone else, last year's student / makerspace giveaway definitely went to someone who more than deserved it and I hope it's the same this year.

My name is Ben and I am a 14 year old student.

Personally I do not need this scope, I was given a nice Siglent one for Christmas this year, and I recently purchased a CRT scope to play with, I have setup a pretty cool lab in my room, but the public high school I go to does not have such equipment. I founded the engineering club with a friend; the engineering program/club is becoming more popular at my school, same with the robotics course, and the resources they have to troubleshoot are very limited.

The tech side of our school is getting more and more popular, but with such a limited budget most of the funding goes towards projects and tools are often the basics and never would they think of buying a piece of gear that costs hundreds of dollars, especially if some of the major users would be in engineering or robotics club.

I want to get this scope on behalf of the Oak Bay High School future Robotics and Engineering clubs, electronics is one of those topics where unless you have done research into it is just magic, and I believe that with a scope and the ability to visualize electricity that comes with it, there will be more students who gain an interest in the topic and for those who already are it will just boost their ability to get started and learn more.

Hello Dave,

I`m a electronic engineering student from Germany. Until now, I have to ask a professor everytime I want to use an Oszilloscope or a network analyzer. But after studying i want to continue.
My main interest is in mid-, to high-frequenzy cirquits like RF, radar, RFID and antennas. The elegance in cirquits realized mostly with conductor tracks is faszinating.
For now, i only realized little filter cirquits which i optimized in software, and then tried to build with real components. I´m improving in my simulation skills. The real circuits get closer and closer to the simulated ones.
My "home lab" for now is only a little soldering station. But soon I`m on search for a used lab power supply.
I hope I can get one Oscilloscope from here or something used for a good price in near future.

You are making fantastic videos, and I think most of your audience will have a good use for an Oscilloscope.
So either way, for the giveaway and your videos, thank you very much for your effort.

Personally I finished school a few years ago. In chemistry more precisely.

But I was still hungry for knowledge. So I went back to night school for adults to get a diploma as an electrical engineer. Not that I really needed it. It's just that starting from a hobby I wanted to become professional in the field.

At Orange Makers https://orangemakerspace.com/ we have a small electronic lab available to everyone. Once a month we have classes in Arduino and electronics. Recently we did a class specifically about using the oscilloscope. The lab does not have enough gear so we had to borrow extra scopes for the class.

Hi, Dave! You are quite literally the reason why I switched my major from Cybersecurity to EE. A year and some time ago I stumbled upon your videos and loved them to the point where it was near the 4th quarter I just stopped to switch to EE (currently finishing my first year). I started out with basic Arduino/ESP32 stuff then quickly moved to 555 timers and all that good stuff! My grandfather overheard me switching and gave me his equipment from when he started out. It would be amazing to receive a scope upgrade from the absolute ancient one he gave me (some of it doesn't work). I doubt I'll win but it was nice to share my story and then read some more of other experiences. Thanks.

Making an entry for the lab I worked at in college/still do some occasional weekend work at/for.

Louisiana State University's Electrical Engineering prototype lab could really use some newer scopes! They only have a single monochrome solid-state scope, and it was 20 years old when I started! One of the two channels is burned out, too. The prototype lab is for working on design projects, and supports academic research efforts by making apparatus. Unfortunately, as it is not involved directly in research or classes (besides the 2-day PCB etching and soldering portion of the ECE tools course) funding is tight, and it's somehow easier to get funding for things like 3d printers and laser cutters than a newer scope.

(I'm not saying the university only has one scope! The electronics labs have more/newer scopes, but these are not available to students to work on projects outside of lab sessions.)

Hi Dave! My name is Eraldo and I'm 18 years old. Currently studying for electronic engineering in Italy.

The video below is an effort of both me and my younger sister (mostly hers) in creating an introductory video of my workbench.
This all came into fruition when I realized that my hosting skills are trash  .
We thought that with my sister’s excellent speaking manners and jokes together with my “outstanding” script and explanations of the lab to her, we could make something unique. So I hope this video is to your liking.

Edit: silly me didn't explain why I need an oscilloscope in the first place  .
I'm really interested in power electronics and power supplies in general and have been working on a small power supply project and design(that's why all those transformers). It would be really helpful (even necessary) to have an oscilloscope to check feedback and ripple. Also another thing i would use it for is to learn about and build filters. Ironically we've also just started learning about bode plots in school and that feature being pre-built in the oscilloscope is a godsend. I'm again sorry for editing an already sent request and i hope it's not a problem.

Aside from the general giveaway, I will also try my luck here.

Dont really need a new scope as I just bought a new one (rigol ds1202z-e) a few months ago and it serves me well, but I thought an extra (or better) scope will be of great help as I struggle teaching local highschool students who come into the house during my free time asking for help on their electronics subject/projects because they dont have any equipment in school. Having a degree in Electronics Technolgy (but took a different path to make a living for practical reasons that is totally irrelevant with electronics, It only became my hobby and side hustle repairing electronics stuff to earn extra to buy tools and stuff), I somehow feel I have a responsibility to teach youngsters with interest in electronics with or without any sort of compensation. My home lab is fairly new and isnt well equipped (lost most of my stuff during 2021 Typhoon Rai) having left with a few multimeter and other tools i saved. Lots of projects i have in mind but i wasnt able to start due to lack of equipment. Im saving to acquire power supply, sig gen, etc. one at a time when i get permission from SWMBO😊 . I am thinking of making a new bench for the students Im teaching that I may equip after I'm done populating my bench which may take time and money. If I'm lucky, I'd be more than happy to donate it to the school so they will have at least one to teach from. I hope dave will consider my entry🙏

I am currently a PhD student in electrical engineering and I try to rid software to use an oscilloscope as Software Defined Radio.
My hope is that this allows more Schools/University to dive into the DSP processing domain. As I would like to test as many devices as possible, the Keysight Scope would be well appreciated. Anyway, I could use a nice scope to work at home.

My name is Piotr. I'm 21 and currently study Electronics and Telecommunication in Poland.
I have worked on a few interesting projects and there are several more waiting for their turn.

The most recent one involves controlling a measuring device (an oscilloscope as of now, probably others in near future) without touching it, only using gestures captured by a camera.
Debugging and testing is a nightmare  ; I have to plan my week in a way that fits with the supervisor's schedule, which is indeed very busy  , so we can use university's scopes  .

Owning an oscilloscope like this one would help me out and seriously speed up development .

Hello all!

My name is Jacques and I'm an EE student from California, USA.

I have been following Dave since before I knew what a resistor was. I always found how he explained things and went through the trouble of actually fixing old things so fascinating.
Dave is one of the reasons I became an EE major. My current "lab" is basically anything I can find on eBay that's cheap enough to fit a broke college kid's budget.

A current project I'm doing is building a Vacuum tube amp for my headphones. I love music and creating things so an amp was the most logical decision!
For anyone interested here's the link to the design I'm currently following. http://diyaudioprojects.com/Tubes/6DJ8-Tube-Headphone-Amp/ It's a great design with very few components, it'll be a great foundation to possibly design my own soon.

Having a DSO would really step up my capability when it comes time to actually take measurements. My current scope is a 20MHz BK Precision 2120B full analog. It worked well up to now but seeing as I got it for a huge discount since only one of the channels worked
I really struggle to make multiple measurements and compare input to output signals.

Hi Dave!

I am a big fan from Sri Lanka.
A couple weeks ago I started my third year as an electrical engineering undergraduate and an oscilloscope would do a great deal for me
I am an analog guy myself. To me digital is just a special case of analog. I love everything power. Power electronics is just delightful.
I have being designing circuits for a while now from alternator regulators to power supplies of all sorts with just the help of my trusty old multimeter, soldering iron and the Bible “Art of Electronics” of course.

The first power supply I designed was an op amp based linear lab bench power supply inspired by the HP E361XA series. I learned a lot about the nasty non idealities of op amps (output saturation, input offset voltages, integrator windup) and how hard it is stabilize a feedback loop.

My most recent project involved designing and building a DCM flyback converter using a current mode controller and oh boy it was harder than I thought let me tell ya. I was puzzled for weeks trying to figure out why my converter couldn’t regulate at higher loads. Later I found out my converter goes into CCM operation and hence required slope compensation to stabilize the feedback loop. That’s a big trap for young players! I was at home and I travelled all the way to my university which is located about 110km away just to use the lab. I loved every second of it though.

Trying to trouble shoot such problems with limited equipment makes me appreciate how special the oscilloscope is.
Without one I am a blind man feeling my way in the vastness of electronics and I ask you to relieve me from my blindness.

My friends and I recently caught the electronics hacking bug and so are starting an amateur (ham) radio design team at University.
We are currently designing our own Software Defined Radio for the 20m band. As third year undergrads we unfortunately don't have as much practical experience as we'd hope for. Simulations are great but this scope would really get us on our way with the actual build and testing
