NSP Foundation Opens Calls for 2020 Grant Applications[/b]
Hacker and STEM-related Proposals Accepted through Nov. 22nd, 2020

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6––The No Starch Press Foundation (NSPF) today announced the opening of its 2020 Grant Cycle, and will accept applications until 11:59 p.m. PST on Nov. 22, 2020. Aimed at nurturing the collective knowledge and contributions of the hacker community, NSPF will award up to $100,000 in grants of up to $10,000 each to projects based in the U.S. that are designed to grow the hacker community and support STE(A)M education initiatives.

“Hackers of all types, both old and new school, play an increasingly important role in driving innovation, improving computer security, teaching our young people, and growing our collective knowledge,” says NSPF Chairman of the Board, Bill Pollock. “The Foundation was formed to further that mission, and our grant program is designed to directly support the hacking community.“

Eligible applicants include U.S. students or student groups, independent cybersecurity and privacy researchers, small organizations, and individuals with project proposals that include (but aren’t limited to):
Contests, scholarships, and programs that advance learning in information security, computing, robotics, and other hacker-relevant topics

Community events, presentations, and clubs that focus on connecting students, hacker groups and other interested parties, with recognized industry leaders

    Independent STEAM education advancement initiatives
Preference is given to projects targeting underserved populations and to those with limited budgets that are less likely to receive corporate, institutional, or government funding.

To apply online, applicants should visit: https://nostarchfoundation.org/grant-application/.
NSPF will notify grant recipients no later than midnight on Dec. 7, 2020. Grant recipients will be announced via the Foundation’s website: https://nostarchfoundation.org/.
