These old dynamos are very inefficient mechanically if they are not prefectly aligned.
I thought of installing magnets on the wheel, but then, if the frame is too close, you'd generate induction losses that would draw the wheel full time.

The front wheel would be more appropriate because typically, the circumference passes in front of the frame only once, vs two for the back wheel.

Been thinking about that for, ohhh, 30 some odds years?
