Backed it.  :)

I'd love to see a similar product compatible with a 16x2 or 20x4 or similar LCD display in the future. Many of my projects need more than a simple 4-digit LCD. But I'm sure I can find lots of uses for this one too.

Nice project, great for a custom timer, thermostat or charge controller etc. though I agree with the others that the LCD may be a little limiting for general purpose use. 

One of these looks like it would fit in your enclosure pretty nicely, though obviously a lot more expensive than a simple glass LCD.

^^ Exactly. If it had an LCD like that, I could find tons of uses for it. With the current LCD, I have one specific project in mind that it will be useful for, but that's all.
