Interview with the CEO http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/high-hopes-for-smartwatch-designed-by-montreal-teenager-1.1606954

Asked for 100k got over 1M, still have not enough $ for developing but for hiring a CTO.
The wristband which is the central part of the suite should come in 3 different sizes.
Even if they get the money for development I doubt that they can produce all that stuff for only $599.
In questions of science, the authority of a thousand is not worth the humble reasoning of a single individual.

If you look at their previous campaign:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/neptune/neptune-pine-smartwatch-reinvented

They did deliver, but didn't go too smoothly (took them about a year to short things out for most backers) as some people didn't get it and others are still missing accessories.

And just 18 months later, their website went bye-bye (http://www.neptunepine.com/), so no support whatsoever and apparently (by reading the comments) they never had google play support, so I guess you'll have to side load everything.

Also, apparently that lack of support was just after they announced the newer neptune suite back in mid August last year.

They did however delivered most of it, but unless you want to deal with self support I wouldn't touch this. Then again maybe they did learn a thing or two during their previous campaign.
