Having made my own perpendicular double-sided protoboard, I have to say this is a much better idea on paper than in practice. But for those who can't make their own PCB, it's worth it if you want to spend lots and lots of time making one board that you will never want to modify or make again.
I personally only bothered doing it once. And it was cool. I had a complete circuit with no jumper wires, at all. But this method of making a board is very difficult to design and debug, which hopefully is solved by the software. The first time I decided I wanted to add this or that to my circuit, I looked at it and it was just not worth bothering with. The mental gymnastics were too much. For me, protoboard is for a circuit in progress to be easily modified and messed with. PCB, thereafter.
This board is still going to be supercool using it single-sided, just for the fact of the bridgeable bus strips. I think it will be useful, either way.
