Good luck with that !
This single 300W 32V panel facing east towards Auckland city probably gets more from the city lights 20km away than from any photon.
10.30 pm on a fine and clear night:

This single panel provides peaks of some 20A into a pair of paralleled 12V 165AH SLA's without any help from photons !  :horse:
I seriously doubt photons would even manage the quiescent current of the controller.

Definitely a worthy contender for dumbest idea ever. I can't even decide which flaw to point out first.

However, might turn out to be a serious candidate for "best prank ever born from a bar crawl".

Scary thing is that due to the market distortion created by the way the 'feed in tariff' was set up in the UK, it was for a while very much worth pulling a variation on this.

We were allowed 4kW of grid tie inverter and the early installs were paid at a really silly rate for generation. You were also paid even if you used the power internally, but the standard install only had sufficient panels to make 4kW for about 20 minutes once every year or so (Remember, UK, seeing the sun is theoretically possible).

The way to make proper money from that setup? variac, rectifier, and some judicious DC wiring. I had a mate who's solar system was managing 4kW worth of feed in tariff from sunup to sundown.

Excellent! :-DD

An artifical light to shine on solar panels! Who would have thought? :-DD
It's never-ending!

Look at the date for the funding goal.
This has all the hallmarks of an April Fools prank.

The originator is in NSW so I'm pretty confident that it's a spoof. If they'd been in Queensland or Darwin however...  >:D

Surely that idea is just rife with conversion inefficiencies - I have a patented way to avoid all of those and work with 100% efficiency :)

To be fair the original idea will indeed generate power 100% of the time  :-DD. Just not a lot

Unfortunately, people come up with these dumbest ideas rather a lot. A random example https://reverzible-hydropower.weebly.com/ The flaw is easy to spot.

That's just brillant! You even thought of adding power sockets so that I can just plug my toaster oven, my microwave and my dish washer right in!

And there are PHOTONS coming out of that Indicator light! Quick, hang a solar cell over it , you can have free energy.
The inventor must be the one who is commuting to work with that skateboard with a hand brake - you know: brakes, throws weight with line, releases and reels himself forward..repeat until arrival.
It would be PERFECT for our solar system, and with that battery we would have an emergency supply too, but the houseowner does not want the STRAY PHOTONS on his roof! He will charge us to remove them!

The diagram is nothing like it. Trawsfynydd doesn't try to use its own power to pump water - it sucks the entire amount off the grid for that, and while it's doing it it isn't generating anything.
