What are you going to do if some fat cat (who likes the idea of a good hackerspace) puts down the 100mil to fund the project   :-DD

Greek letter 'Psi' (not Pounds per Square Inch)

It's $101M!
I'd personally go for the island option, but I'd start a poll.

I will not support this campaign, unless you promise to install working teleporters for oversea visitors. :D

Edit: Added word 'working'... ;)

35 bucks!
I tried to support it, but Pozible won't let me donate a penny.

The Australian anti-science establishment is trying to sabotage the campaign.  ;)

Dave, that is pretty crazy!  :-DMM I love it
I actually prefer the island, but the access seems to be the problem. Is there any possibility you can privately fund the construction of a bridge to connect it to the mainland?

Edit: now I see the biggest problem with the island. It is very far away from Sydney. Flying a plane there from Sydney seems very expensive and I don't think your typical 4 seat Cessna can take the trip. But if you're talking about taking the trip from the local airport to the island then it's feasible, a simple Cessna 172 can do it if you have a good airstrip at the island.

Also, why don't you contact Hack-a-Day and the other media? Also, if you manage to make it to the news it would be legendary.

Edit: changed "Sidney" to Sydney.

That's why he limited that option to 5 supporters.

Pozible seems to have an issue with me, though.

What are the laws for beach/shoreline ownership in Oz? I see the neighbours neighbours.com.au on the right of the aerial photo have staked their claim to the beach fronting their property.

Don't know 100%, but pretty sure it's a public stretch of beach, you own nothing of it.

Does it really matter?  If it's a hackerspace, hackers are generally afraid of the sun :P

The area is needed for the Yanks to dock their liner.

And don't forget the helipad for the kiwis.
