It's a nice looking little book, very friendly for someone like me who likes fun little projects.

I wonder, with the world moving to print on demand for low volume books these days, what the cost difference would have been if the author had just used a PoD service and listed on Amazon (like a number of the PoD services do for you) and not run a crowd funded campaign?

Crowdfunding = massive free advertising currently.

He would only have a fraction of the sales via a POD service and any other marketing channel.

Either Atmel or Arduino linked to this on their Facebook page.  I forget which though.

I noticed today that the project owner on this one is absolutely deleting critical comments. There was a fairly direct (but a bit nasty) one I spotted earlier today that was asking the project owner to fully disclose his relation to the other two "smartmaker" crowdfunded projects. And now that comment is no longer visible.

I suspected some funny business was going on when I noted that the last visible comment was a week ago - it's extremely rare for a highly popular project to go so long without comment.

I don't go to the web site but get emails on the status of the book. It is being printed in china and He was heading that way.
I got this email oct 21:
Here’s an update for you from the ‘ARDUINO BASIC CONNECTIONS - THE BOOK’ team:

1 new Announcement:

Hi Makers!

I'm very excited... I'm packing my bag and tomorrow's morning I will be on my way to China, ready to send you a lot of books (over 3,500!).

I wanted to write you because there are friends of our network who have just started a very interesting project here on Indiegogo. As they have nice discounts for the early birds, I'm happy if you are within the firsts to find out this product that I believe it will have good results:

Hope you will find the suggestion interesting.

I think they asked for a conformation on the adress of which they ship your book at some point, via e-mail.
That being all done, still waiting...

I got my book today. USA Arizona.
The last page is not properly attached but the little book is nice. :)
Now I have to take the whole book apart to add the last page properly. Am I the only one with the problem?

Got mine today in Georgia, no problems with the last page. It's a nice book, especially for beginners who are more immediately interested in getting something working than about the science, math and theory behind it.
