Wave power works, no doubt about it......why is this thing not up and running?

probably for the same reason these things aren't on canals all over the world:

http://www.ecogeek.org/weird-stuff/2488

What's the reason? I read the article and still don't know. Is it funding, because it would block boats, it is too noisy for locals, it doesn't work, it is too expensive, it hasn't been proven reliable, it will harm aquatic life.... What?

Seems like a good idea that would be pretty cheap to implement doesn't it?

It will never happen because of who owns the senior water rights.

I don't see anything wrong with the company, they have generators and have made attempts to set them......but they are in serious trouble

bit off more than they can chew and nobody is going to bail them out....it's a shame.

Please explain?

Sorry? I don't see what you want explained. One says "he has A", and the other says "he has A and B". I have a coffee mug. That is not a false statement just because I also have a car.

If Georgie really had a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from UNI of WA then why would they award him an HONORARY Doctorate?

Doctor of Letters

Because it's not the same as the one he had. Are you daft?

How many times do people need to be told, don't feed the Troll? They soon go elsewhere.

Oh, but it's such fun! Don't ban them, lock them up like zoo animals in their own section, so you can watch them be fed if you want to  :P

Yes, of course I'm daft. Can't you tell?
I'm not an expert on academic awards.
Can you point out any other examples of an Honorary Doctorate being given by any university to someone that already has a full Doctorate from that uni.

Before you go accusing people of something, you ought to research it a bit to know if you'll make a fool of yourself.

Nope. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, though. I don't memorize honorary degree award notices.

People get honorary doctorates all the time, it's like getting the keys to the city.

It's nothing more than a sheet of paper that says "hey thanks for speaking at our commencement ceremony"

Where would we be if no one bet on "unproven" technology.  Most of the time it fails and sometime it changes the world.

Must stop feeding the troll...

But they don't have any generators to sell.
They have admitted that the PB40, and the PB150 were just prototypes and are now trying to raise even more money to build the PB500 which is HUGE.
Now, which  responds better to the waves?
A dinghy or a battleship?

Ocean Power Technologies not so swell at delivering projects
BY:GILES PARKINSON From: The Australian November 09, 2009 12:00AM

THE US company chosen by the Rudd Government to build a $200 million flagship wave energy facility in Victoria has been accused by its own broker of being unable to deliver its projects.

Ocean Power Technologies, which is to develop the 19 megawatt plant in conjunction with Leighton Contractors and is backed by oil and gas giant Woodside Petroleum, was the surprise choice for a $66.5m grant, beating Australian rivals Carnegie Wave Energy, BioPower and Oceanlinx.

OPT was criticised by Collins Stewart, its sponsoring broker on London's Alternative Investment Market, last year because of delays and cost over-runs at a wave project in Spain.

Collins Stewart broker Raymoned Greaves told The Times last July that OPT had a "total inability to deliver" on projects. "The continued delays baffle us," he was quoted as saying.

Ironically, OPT has been commissioned to build the project at Portland, where an earlier version of its PowerBuoy technology was scrapped after part of the machine snapped off while being towed into place by an ocean tug in 2002. That installation was funded by the Victorian and federal governments.

Keep on giving them the benefit of the doubt AND taxpayers money?

You arent contributing, you are slandering.
You could contact that university and find out instead of trolling.

When I raised a red flag on that solar thingie (whose name shall never be spoken) people said rude things about me and nobody would listen

Granted that I can be a tad annoying but the message is the same.
If it sounds too good to be true

I do have some experience with wave devices. I have worked as a field technician maintaining and deploying Waverider buoys off the NSW and WA coasts.
I know the difficulties of deploying and retrieving such devices even in fairly calm conditions.
I know about the effects of corrosion and marine growth.
I find it unbelievable that the PowerBuoy or any other wave energy device can work reliably for 25 years with very little maintenance as claimed by OPTT.

Found this description of Wikipedia (have you heard about it), I suppose George somehow wrote this entry to cover up his scam as well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honorary_degree

The tradition of giving honorary degrees dates back to the middle ages.

Even that famous scam artist Steven Hawking has 5 of them despite the fact that he carries a real PhD

Nothing wrong with honorary degrees although I'd really have to question whether Doctor Taylor has contributed much to the cause of renewable energy. The PowerBuoys have never delivered any verifiable power to shore.

Questions remaining unanswered.
Why did Uni of WA give an honorary doctorate to someone that already has a doctorate (any precedents for that?)
Why did Uni of WA fail to mention that he been awarded a Doctorate after completing his BSc?
Why did he pop over to London and complete a second Doctorate?
With no record of achievements in Australia or UK how did he become a fellow of the Institute of  Engineers in both countries?

Yes, of course I'm daft. Can't you tell?
I'm not an expert on academic awards.
Can you point out any other examples of an Honorary Doctorate being given by any university to someone that already has a full Doctorate from that uni.

We have to prove nothing. You have to back up YOUR statements with research and proof. You're the one making claims based on vapors...

You should have researched academic awards, checked if anyone has ever been awarded an honorary one from his uni. The. You would have had precision ammunition to defend your point. Along the lines

You can't get an honorary from a university you already received a doctorate from.
The honorary one is in greek literature so it's got nothing to do with wave energy.

Now your just swatting at flies and babbling to yourself like the bum at the corner. In you case i suspect you're not even babbling to yourself but pretending to be... You may be on a bluetooth headset.. ( meanwhile the real bum goes : don't be talking to yourself ! That's my act. People give mem money if i do that ).   Oops .. Scam alert !
