Isn't this dangerous?

Correct me if I'm wrong but It uses EL wire which requires high voltage to operate and puts it on your face. Wouldn't any short cause shocks to a very sensitive are ie the eyes and face?

Personally, I wouldn't be worried. Although EL wire does use a moderately high voltage, it would be easy to insulate, provided the glasses were made correctly.

I saw this - I think RGB LEDs and lightguides would be a better way to do it.

1 meter of ELwire uses around 9mA at 100V
So yeah, its not something you want to be touching.
