K-Mometer: Smart Wi-Fi Thermometer
« on: July 17, 2017, 10:41:29 pm »
Hi Folks,

I thought I would bring your attention to the K-Mometer, which is currently being crowdfunded here: https://igg.me/at/k-mometer, and is about to reach its funding goal.

Although its primary target market is for food enthusiasts, it can be also used for a lot of scientific purposes, which I think will resonate with this crowd.

The K-Mometer is enabled by a Type K thermocouple sensor and probe, and so can be used to monitor the most arduous of temperature environments. It also uses Wi-Fi so you can practically
get access to the sensor data anywhere you have Wi-Fi. It's ready made hardware that you can use for your temperature projects so you don't have to worry about cobbling together something.
It uses UDP to communicate with a smartphone app, but you can easily create your own server if you have special requirements.

This type of "equipment" has only been previously available to people that can fork out hundreds of dollars. For $69 at an early bird price, it's a steal, and is positioned to disrupt the temperature sensor equipment market.

Looking forward to your contributions and/or feedback!

Thanks,

Zin

Questions:

1. Did you donate $15000 of your own money to the campaign?  Why?

2. What's the sample rate?  Is it programmable?

3. What's the cold junction range?

4. What's the accuracy?  Can it be calibrated?

Hi, thanks for your questions.

1. No, these are from investors.

2. Default is once every 3 seconds. It is programmable.

3. -55°C to +125°C

4. Initial accuracy tests show that without calibration it is already accurate to +/- 1 degrees Celsius (or +/- 1.8 degrees F), but with calibration we can get it down to about +/- 0.5 degrees F. This should be sufficient for most applications out there.

Thanks,

Zin

Here is a video showing the accuracy of the K-Mometer. Note that this is uncalibrated.

actually based on the plarform there is more can do ...the most difficult is the app develop and mass data dealing. the hardware is relative simple.

Why would an investor use IndieGogo to invest funds into your business?

This wouldn't entitle them to shares, IP or similar & they would have just smoked a portion of their 'investment' on IGG and CC fees?
