so its teensy 3.0 + huge ass atmega (WHYYY?) on same pcb. weird combination, seems unnecessary.

Looks like smart watches are 3d printers of 2013. Dave should of jumped on board last year

With all these watches crammed with oodles of features, I'm considering launching a product with no Bluetooth, accelerometer, wireless and no code space left to add any additional features  - I call it the "IJAFWOK" - It's Just A F***ing Watch OK!

I really have to do my Mk2 µWatch, people lap this stuff up.
I was going to add some "smart" features years ago, but then all this smart watch stuff hit the market.
So now it'll be old school, just a nerdy retro scientific calculator with real buttons.

Can i have one. You don't need to install the display. I'll just attach a counter to the 32.768khz crystal and work out the time from there.

Yes - they are close to being a perfect graphic LCD - fabulous contrast & view angle, no need for backlight and minimal current draw when not updating, but much faster update than E-Ink.
Downsides are that you can only update a full line at a time, and no greyscales.
I think they would be ideal for a DMM display.
 I used the larger ones for this :

Beats the hell out of designing boring industrial stuff.. and one-off projects need a lot less documentation than production stuff...!

As the style of this Agent Watch is already... hmm... questionable 
they could integrate also some fancy 'energy harvesting' module (using heat, movement, blood, whatever from its owner) and make it even... trendier.

Not usable for me (apart from the fact that I don't wear a watch anyway). A friend of mine had the TI's smart watch with MSP430 inside and i kinda liked what it was capable of. And battery life was like >1 year I think.

It has "Qi wireless charging". Didn't know this before, looks like some kind of standard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi_(inductive_power_standard)
So at least you don't need to remember to fiddle a power cable into it every some days, just put it on the pad every evening.

But the watch is really expensive. $179 if you need the charger, too. Compare this to Pebble: $99, including the charger (well, it's just an USB cable, but with a nice Mac-like magnetic clip at the watch side). Still a bit pricey. I wonder when you can buy the first Chinese clone for $10.
