For several years I tried starting a hackerspace in Maine the Sopohackerspace. South portland hackerspace. In New England, there are several startups, myself because I had a cafeteria, kitchen, a/c heat, clean restrooms included in the rent of my engineering and repairlab. No charge for members, and was trying for a critical mass to form an organization.
I was the first in Maine to start a hackerspace, but not for wanting to, but needing to.
Someone out of the blue to me, has put a major effort into starting a maker space.
That's great, because I am old, and would just like to be in the engine(ering) room and support the effort.
It is called the Open Bench Project.
Funding is through Indigogo, and I am leaving my office building to be assimilated. I am going to get a small area for a bench.
My point is to use Dave's videos and my test equipment for hands on training, plus the science stuff I always wanted to teach. Other video friends here I will also show like mike's electric stuff , Fran, Jeri, the esamba guy,...
Seems real electronic engineering is alien to others in my area, so it was my request for a permanant space in the building.
check it out, donate or whatever. And donate a few bucks a month to dave please, nothing like him,
Since the data book days.
