sProjector - The first powerful Mini TV projector
« on: December 19, 2015, 12:54:11 pm »
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sprojector-the-first-powerful-mini-tv-projector/x/10280792#/

Weight 150g, RAM 2G, ROM 32GB, Brightness  1000 lumens, 5 hours of battery life
Goal $10.000

With 1000 lumens will need at least 12W, do the math! If 100g is battery it will last for 2h max.
How can you build something with $10.000? No they have almost half a million, I see some trouble coming.

and it says:
Enjoy 4K movies, TV shows, action-packed video games and your presentation on screens up to 180”

description in font size 5:
It offers 1920x1080/1000 lumens projection

and the battery has 5000mAh = 1.5h
Shipping starts in January 2016,  :palm:.

1000 lumens in that package? Have they just invented the first 100% efficient laser diode, or how are they gonna pack that in such a small package?
This thing just looks like a relabeled, cheap Chinese pocket projector.

something similar in size:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/LED-Mini-Projector-Portable-Pocket-Projector-Full-HD-Home-Theater-Video-Games-AV-TV-VGA-HDMI/32532734019.html

It has only 100LM, is 100g heavier, has only a 854x480 resolution, needs 5W and it is a bit more expensive.

This is Chinese. They tend to massively exaggerate the Lumens output on their products. Is it 1000 ANSI Lumens ? Or just 1000 'Chinese Lumens'. The attenuation of the output light path also needs to be factored into any true light energy output spec.

I have lovely HP Companion LED projectors that produce 100 ANSI Lumens and that is close to accurate when tested. It draws a lot of current though and needs a 60W power supply normally used for laptops.

This sProjector sounds like its just so much sales hype. It is likely as dim as most similar pocket projectors.

This is getting out of hand. Anybody who can put together a nice demo video with non-functional mock-ups and special effects in post-production editing can create a fantasy product and dupe technically ignorant "backers".  IGG is rapidly becoming a "den of thieves" with the occasional legitimate project who wanders in by accident every once in a while.

Reminds me of a couple of previous fantasy projectors. One was a wrist-mounted impossibly small and powerful projector that could actually project BLACK onto your arm!  And another wall-mounted projector that could project impossibly large and geometrically correct displays from practically the same plane! Of course, nothing even came of either of them. Bah!  Humbug!

I really can't believe it, they put that prototype video on Youtube on Nov 26. and nobody realized how different the product is compared to the CGI images. It even has a serial number and the label says "Mobile Smart Projector".  Over 2600 fools and their money :palm:. Indinogo is a scammers paradise, Caveat emptor!

In one of their current status photo, where they show the main pcb with the battery and right on the pcb is a "QC PASSED" sticker, which is a dead giveaway that it's a fake.

This is Chinese. They tend to massively exaggerate the Lumens output on their products.
This is almost certainly what is going on. They'll generally describe the total output at max rating of the chips, not the actual output. And even then, it's usually exaggerated further.

Unfortunately, same practice is common among US sellers in many non-residential/commercial LED lighting markets.

In the home Hi-Fi (really Low-Fi) market it was common to state "PMPO" ( Peak Music Power Output) and it was not uncommon to see crazy wattages stated that could not possibly be maintained by the power supply, output stage or small speaker units. The LED projector marketing world is little different. ANSI Lumens is the standard unit to look for in the specs and not just "Lumens".

- AliExpress has no longer this projector, link gone.
- The tech specs said 100 Lumens and WXGA resolution

As you scroll down, you see it says is includes a downconverter so it can play 4k video - at 1080.

Batteriser, that charge pack mentioned in the 10 worst thread, and this - Indiegogo - home of utter bullshit, it seems.

Hello contributors,
today is the day we promised the delivery.
We really strived hard to keep our promise. At first we are going to produce all of orders, but it took 15 days for transferring budget to our account, so it is delayed.
We changed our plan to produce 1000 products at first and started mass production.
We've completed producing those 1000 devices and tested them.
Unfortunately, we found an issue with heat sink. It can cause white dot issue which shrinks the lifetime of sProjector seriously.
The problem is occurred because of the mistake in the production process.
These are all our fault and we are really sorry for this situation.
We will fix the problem as soon as possible.
Thank you.

I'd be very interested to see what they do release

Nothing. It looks dead by now, no updates since 6 months. On IGG you can take the $$$ and just walk away.  :wtf:
