Butterfleye: Smart and Versatile Monitoring Camera
« on: August 27, 2015, 10:47:31 pm »

Is this dude reinventing the wheel or have I missed something ?

Two months ago I bought two Tenvis wireless security cameras for $80 each from ebay. Could have got cheaper ones for $50 !! I could set these cameras to detect motion and send snapshots to my email address. Not only that I could view the cameras in real time from a PC or Android phone device half way round the world !! They also had night vision which would automatically switch on a set of infra-red leds. They also had remote pan and tilt which is a definite requirement for security apps which this Indiegogo camera does not have. All the features that this dude on Indiegogo claims to have can be found on a much cheaper and more flexible camera off ebay.

These are the specs for the units I bought.

Highlights of Tenvis TH661:

H.264 HD 720P Megapixel HD Image / Video

Free Tenvis DDNS Service Embedded

Easy to install, Built-in Mic & Speaker, 2-way Audio

Supports WPS, P2P, Pan / Tilt, Support for multi-client viewing

Support TF card storage up to 32GB

Hidden Infrared LED( Night Vision Up to 10M) at night, Lower radiation and more secure

Phone remote monitoring, Motion Detection alarm via E-Mail and FTP

Now this dude wants $199 for starters and the punters have jumped in and ordered over 350K of kit !!

I don't get it ?

Calling an SD card "tf"/transflash reeks off copy pasting specs from the Chinese manufacturers website.  Probably just reselling stuff at a markup.
