Adrian, there is an e-mail named  'EEVblog µRuler' update 16 that contains instructions on how to proceed to get a "refund" (edit: not money, see below).

The sender is from Pozible < no-reply@pozible.com >

Just be sure these e-mails are not going to your spam folder

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Hello rsjsouza.

Thank you for your quick response.

I will check it out now.

Does this mean that the only option is money back? It will be a HUGE shame if I am unable to pass these rulers on to my dad.

Thank you.

Adrian

Adrian, no, sorry, I was being sarcastic. By "refund" I meant µRulers, not money.

Is there anything you can do for me? It would be a huge shame for my dad if I can't give him the rulers.

Yes, read the latest Pozible updates and send me an email.

Tyvek is what those FedEx envelopes use, the ones that look like they are made of some kind of fiber that you can't tear.

It's also used as a moisture barrier in some new home constructions. It allows water vapor but not liquid water

Also commonly used in wrist bands at clubs and events, because it doesn't tear.

Also used to make the disposable bunny suits used in Hazmat areas like chip and hard drive manufacturing plants. You can tear it, but normally that requires a lot more than the average person can deliver without a lever.

Dave, if it's not to difficult are you able to see if my name was on the list of rulers sent in Australia. Thought I would have received it by now, although Cairns is the end of the world. :)

Yep, 5 rulers. It would have been in the first batch that was sent out.

I guess the pigeon decided it was too hot up here and turned around. Mail from Sydney to Cairns normally only takes 3 days.

Never mind. I actually only pledged because I didn't think you would get too many takers and would have just donated if I'd realised that was an option. Just keep a spare around and I'll come and visit you next time I'm in Sydney. :)

Then again, they may still turn up.

Damn, I just discovered the uRuler thing. Is there a way to get one?  :(

I can etch one, but it's not as fancy...

Sounds like there are a few strewn about the floors of random Australian postal offices.

Indeed. I didn't even get an empty envelope.

I whould also like to buy few of this uRulers, I've registred to the EEVblog Shop but there is not such item to buy there. It whould be good that you add uRuler to EEVblog shop, and after getting desired number of orders you can send them. I whould buy couple of them, they look good and useful.

uRulers have shipped!
http://www.pozible.com/project/31806#updates

Dave, at the end, are you satisfied with this campaign? Did you get what you wanted?

Dave, at the end, are you satisfied with this campaign? Did you get what you wanted?

What I "wanted" was to simply make a small group of people happy who kept asking for a uRuler. And also it was a good opportunity to try out crowd sourcing via Pozible to test the whole mechanism.
The fact that it went gangbusters surprised me and added extra issues I did not intent.

So, yes, satisfied, and it gave some people what they wanted, and I learned a lot out about, and fixed a lot of issues with both Pozible, PayPal, and shipping.

So, having survived the experience are you likely to take what you learned and try another crowdfunding campaign?  Or is once enough?

I'd do it again.

Hey there,

I am currently planning on doing a small batch of µRulers for the german people.

Is there any way to get the full gerbers including the eevblog slogan on the back and would it okay for you, Dave, when I do the batch exactly the same as you did with your slogans on it?

I will also use pcbcart as fab, 0,5mm with red soldermask and white silkscreen. Pricing will be below 2 euros per Ruler and 2 additional euros for shipping, I will send a minimum of 5 rulers per order and will start to take orders in about 2 weeks. This will be a private project - I will not make any revenue by this (except maybe 5 free rulers for me).

Thanks!

Matthias

Edit: Dave, did you have some kind of deal with pcbcart for the 4 and 5 mil traces/spacing? Would be very nice if they would do them without charging any extra. Asked them too about this.

5 rulers have arrived safely. To celebrate, here's a silly modification of a famous joke.
Whoa! How the hell did Dave know that Bob is my uncle? Amazing!

This would make an interesting graph. Benchmarking mail from Australia to various countries.

No uRulers when I got home, just two ATMega48v chips I ordered from Korea for a buck each.
